Rhiannon Tuntevski is what you would consider a textbook Millennial. Entitled. Demanding. Self-focused and altruistic. And these are just some of her favourite things about her generation. Following a journey that saw her find fierce purpose for her own life at an uncharacteristically young age, she’s determined to bring some perspective on the things that makes the minds of millennials tick and how we can better harness these things in our workplaces.
At the age of 18, she had twice in the space of a year found herself sitting at the funeral of a friend. Someone who, unlike her, wasn’t going to get the chance to experience all that life has to offer. Taking the cue to inspect her own life, she realised that at just 18, she was struggling her way through her first year of uni, not entirely satisfied that this was all that being a ‘grown up’ had to offer. She took the advice of her parents (*gasp*) and ventured out to see the world, spending a month volunteering at an orphanage in Thailand. An adventure that opened her eyes to the incredible opportunity each and every person on the planet has to make a difference in the world.
And this is where she started to make some changes. Swapping full time uni for a full time job, and her part time jobs to part time study to complete a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Public Relations from the University of Newcastle, and trying to find the intersection of her drive to make a difference in the world, but also her career aspirations.
In her short career she’s held a variety of marketing roles with some of Australia’s biggest and most innovative charities like World Vision and Cure Brain Cancer, forged partnerships and run campaigns with the likes of City of Sydney, and is now a part of the team at the University of Technology Sydney building the Faculty of Transdisciplinary Innovation. A future-focused faculty disrupting the model of university. She’s received the Australian Defence Force Award for Leadership, is closely involved with the National Student Leadership Forum, and is a passionate and enthusiastic leader, determined to not let her age or the associated stigma get in her way.
She has an infectious determination to see young people empowered to play to their strengths, bust some of the myths that so frequently get held over the generation that in not so long is going to hold over half of the jobs in the global workforce and make sure businesses feel confident in navigating future territory with young people driving change.
Rhiannon is an enthusiastic and captivating speaker sure to leave quite the impression on any audience she speaks to.
